Mustang was an ancient kingdom within Nepal and is now perhaps a bucket list item of every Himalaya lover. Mustang, until recently, has had little contact with the outer world. The government of Nepal only recently recognized the monarch of Mustang. The people there are the best representations of life beyond the mountains since time immemorial. Mustang falls in the rain shadows of the Himalayas and can be trekked even during monsoon seasons. The rugged mountain terrains and untouched cultural traditions of the people make Mustang a unique life-time experience. Since it is a restricted area, travelers require a special permit to enter the region.
