Langtang is probably one of the nearest trekking regions with the entire Himalayan experience. The area is naturally and culturally rich. It is home to beautiful scenic landscapes, lush rhododendron forests, glistening snow-capped mountains, and Sherpa and Tamang people. It is easily accessible via land as it is only a day’s drive to the starting point of most treks. The Langtang National Park covers the area which is why there are diverse flora and fauna. If you’re lucky, you can catch a glimpse of rare mammals such as Himalayan Tahr, red pandas, rhesus monkeys, and even the Himalayan black bear. Gosaikunda Lake is another major tourist attraction for both domestic and international travelers.

Langtang and its people
Langtang is situated in the central Himalayas and is around 50km north of the capital city, Kathmandu. It also subsumes the Langtang National Park which is spread over 1,710 sq. km. of area. The geographical landscape of Langtang ranges from subtropical lowlands to alpine highlands. It is also home to the Langtang Himal range which constitutes several mountains and peaks.

The majority of the population inside the Langtang region are Tamang. They are an ethnic group that is mainly Buddhists and that is evident in the number of Buddhist monasteries present in Langtang. The Tamang people are of Tibetan origin and their cultures can be found similar to those in remote parts of the Northern Himalayas. Helambu is home to the people of the Hyolmo group which is similar to Tamang. They have their distinct language and lifestyles accustomed to life in the mountains.
Highlights for this Region
Langtang National Park :
Langtang National Park and the buffer zone are renowned for their diverse flora and fauna. The national park is home to over 250 species of birds as well as endangered mammals such as the red panda, Himalayan black bear, snow leopard, etc.

Gosaikunda Lake :
Gosaikunda Lake is located at 4,380 m and covers an area of 34 acres. It is a freshwater, oligotrophic lake that is revered as a holy pilgrimage by Hindus. Travelers can either trek to the lake via the Langtang region or take a helicopter ride to the lake directly. It remains frozen during the winter season.

Kyanjin Ri :
Kyanjin Ri is the highest point on our Langtang Trek and can be compared to Kala Pattar in the Everest Region. It is located near the Kyanjin Village, northeast of the Kyanjin Gomba. The hike up the hill awards trekkers with views of Langtang Lirung (7227m), Yubra (6262m), Changbu (6251m), Naya Kanga (5844m), Tserko peak (5749m), Tsergo Ri (4948m), Tserko peak (5749m) and Yala peak (5500m).

Cultural Experience :
Langtang Helambu region is home to various Himalayan ethnic groups, the majority being Tamang and Hyolmos. Trekkers can experience the rural lifestyle & culture of the Tamang people in the highlands as well as enjoy the hospitality of the Himalayan people.
